About Us

The IIB provides industry access to a purpose-built 10,000m² research building (expansion due for completion in 2010) that includes fully equipped laboratories and high-tech equipment facilities.

We serve the full life sciences spectrum, including health, food and environmental biotech, and help co-locating companies fast-track R&D by leasing access to the resources of The University of Auckland and the School of Biological Sciences (SBS).

With 180 staff and 120 PhD students, the SBS is home to several internationally recognised research centres, including the Maurice Wilkins Centre for Molecular Biodiscovery, the Centre for Genomics and Proteomics and the Bioinformatics Institute.

The IIB brings industry and academic research together. Several partnering organisations work with us through joint appointments and collaborative projects, as well as providing key additional funding support.
