Guest Speaker: Francis Hunter: Experiences as an aspiring young scientist-entrepreneur
Francis Hunter is a Ph.D. student in Molecular Medicine and Pathology at the Auckland Cancer Society Research Centre, a long-serving contributor to the Spark Entrepreneurship Challenge and Co-Founder of a biopharmaceutical start-up company, where he is also Chief Scientific Officer in his spare time. His academic research investigates new paradigms in the management of cancer, whereby sophisticated novel drugs can be matched to patients whose disease profile greatly enhances the probability of a favourable clinical response.
In this presentation, Francis Hunter will describe his experiences as an early-career scientist-entrepreneur with a vision toward contributing to the establishment of a lucrative biopharmaceutical program in New Zealand. He will offer perspectives on how and why MBIE and other organisations should support aspiring young leaders.
