Guest Speaker:  Ben O'Brien, Stretch Sense: Building the pathway from University research to an new spin-out.

You are welcome to join us for the next in our series of Networking events on Friday the 18th September 2015 with sponsorship from ATEED. This month we welcome Ben O’Brien, CEO of Stretch Sense speaking on the topic:
Building the pathway from University research to a new spin-out.

Venue below. Please RSVP by responding “Yes” in the subject line.

In his talk Ben will talk candidly about:
• The underlying R&D and IP platform
• When the time is right for a University start-up to leave
• Successes and footfalls in the company first capital round

“When we started trying to raise money we thought the model was:
• Have a great idea
• Write a business plan
• Ask an investor for money
• Get funded
I thought that the difference between success and failure was the quality of the above. If you are rejected you go back and do it again. Refine the idea. Write a better plan. Find a different investor…”

But this is not the way he found it!

“No matter how much you refine this process you are optimising for the wrong thing.”
Hear Ben tell us about the right thing and his company’s experiences on the 18th.
