Randy Weaver: Toasting the Success of NZ Wine 4.30 November 28th

We are delighted to invite you to this joint IIB and NZBIO event celebrating the year end to be held on Tuesday 28th November at 4.30 for 5.00 pm start at our new venue: the University FALE PASIFIKA. This event is made possible with sponsorship from ATEED.

This month we welcome guest speaker Randy Weaver speaking on the wine regions and wine varietals of NZ.

Randy graduated from the University of California, Davis in Enology and Viticulture and landed his first wine making job in NZ with Montana in 1973. He pursued an international career moving between NZ and California before and after founding Coopers Creek Vineyard in 1981. This company built a glowing reputation wining a host of awards during Randy’s time there as wine maker. After nearly 20 years back in the USA he became Director of the University of Auckland Wine Science Programme during which time the University was gifted the Goldie Estate, a boutique wine producer on Waiheke serving as a premier location for the University’s wine teaching programme.

Randy has retired from the University but has not lost his passion for fine wines. In his talk he will cover the wine regions of NZ, drivers of the spectacular success of NZ wines and introduce the Goldie wines that will be offered for tasting.

When:
4.30-6.30 pm drinks and canapés (for 5.00 pm presentation), Tuesday 28th November.

Where:

At the Fale Pasifika, University of Auckland. This is on the University Campus on the northern side of the Business School’s Owen Glenn Building (best parking option) at 20 Wynyard Street, Grafton. Just exit the Owen Glenn Building, head past the Fisher and Paykel Auditorium and find the Fale on your right. 

Parking:

The University is well serviced by bus routes, and car parking is available under the University of Auckland Business School (the Owen G Glenn Building) on Grafton Rd. This is close to the Fale Pasifika.
